Jan 8, 2011 was definitely a night to remember. I have always dreamed of throwing an elegant but chic cocktail party, glamorous decorations, delectable hors d’oeuvres, group of musicians in the corner, an artist in the other corner painting a beautiful art piece while people are gathered around watching in awe and the rest mingling, having a beautiful time.

However, given the budget that I started with, and the fact that it was a somewhat intimate gathering – a few of my crazy but wonderful 20 friends, gathered in my tiny lil’ Toronto apartment, filled with music from a iPod, delicious hors d’oeuvres – cheese fondue, cheese + cracker platters, chocolate fondue, 5 different pastries, vegetables with dip, variety of cookies, brownies, and so much more I can’t even remember.

By the end of the night it was quite evident the party was a success. I remember at one point we were all dancing around the apartment like we were at a dance club, without a care in the world. And then it hit me, while cleaning up the apartment with my friend Melly. It was the perfect medicine for me.

I have gone through the 3 worst years of my life and I’ve had days where I didn’t even wanna get up in the morning, telling everybody I was okay and even though they knew that was a lie, no one really knew how bad it really was. The night of my birthday I think for the first time in a long time I let go and just had a fantastic time with a group of the most amazing people in my life.

Thanks ladies and gents! We shall have many more nights like these.
